Input Media, one of Europe’s leading sports production companies, selected Gearhouse Broadcast’s Systems Integration division to expand, upgrade and refurbish its state-of-the-art London-based high-definition production facilities.

Input Media’s Broadcast Centre has been designed to deliver live production of sport programming for clients such as UEFA, the FA, the BBC and WTA.

The project will include expanding, upgrading and refurbishing a Master Control Room, four Production Galleries and four Voice over Booths.

In addition to the core contact, Gearhouse Broadcast provided comprehensive staff training and will also provide an extensive three year technical support package.

In terms of the equipment chosen for the project, Gearhouse Broadcast selected Snell Kahuna 360 multi-format Production Switcher, Snell Sirius 830 Router with AHP, Snell Glue and Distribution Products, Sony, JVC and Ikegami full HD Studio Monitors, Imagine Communications Quad Multiviewers, TSL Audio Monitoring Units, Yamaha DM1000 Digital Mixing Desks and Custom Console’s range of control room furniture.

As part of the Gallery Upgrade project a Snell Sirius 830 Audio and Video router was installed. The routers will be controlled initially using both Snell’s Roll Call and Centra Workbench applications, with a view of migrating entirely to Centra in the future.

The Snell systems will give Input Media the flexibility to leverage existing resources within the company’s London Production Centre to run a greater number of productions more efficiently and cost-effectively. With built-in support for 1080p supplied as standard, Kahuna 360 and Sirius 830 also expand Input Media’s current and future HD capabilities. .

Operational crew members on the installation included a Senior Project Engineer, Audio Engineers, Communication Engineers, Wiremen and Riggers.

The project involved a four week planning period followed by seven weeks of onsite installation and commissioning.

Jonathan Hughes, Head of Systems Integration said “Gearhouse Broadcast was awarded the contract on the strength of our reputation and experience in the provision of similar facilities. The installations went smoothly and our clients have a very powerful and flexible production facility”.
